“Stamps-Vol.4” is a database management program for stamp collectors that contains images, pricing and descriptions for all United States postage stamps covering the years 2000 to the present.
This series of apps for was created for stamp collectors of all ages and backgrounds. Hobbyists as well as investors, dealers, and estate managers will find it to be a valuable tool in maintaining accurate information about a collection. Stamp prices have been compiled from a number of reliable sources, including price guides, dealer lists, and auction prices.
There are three means for selecting a stamp so that it may be added to either a collection or placed on a Want List. The first method is by determining the year that the stamp was issued and its denomination. If the item of interest is in your possession and has been placed in an album, it is likely that the album page identifies the year of issue. The denomination of the stamp is obvious and with these two pieces of information it is only necessary to “spin” the entry wheel to the relevant year and face value of the stamp.
In many instances, there may be more than one stamp that matches those criteria. A list of all such items appears in a scrollable table and each description will aid you in further determination of the correct stamp. Note that type of perforation, color and style of watermark (or lack thereof) denotes a separate item. The value of a stamp is significantly affected as a result of choosing the correct description. Stamp supply dealers can provide you (as needed) with a perforation guide, a color guide, and a watermark identification kit. Some or all of these tools are required to accurately identify some stamps.
A second means for selecting a stamp is by using the unique “Guided Search” function. A series of questions will lead you to a number of choices whose further description and illustration should help you to zero in on the correct stamp. This method is most helpful where the year of issue cannot be easily determined.
The third method for selecting a stamp is by choosing the “Show Stamp Sets” feature. This permits you to quickly enter a series of stamps from any of the listed Commemorative issues.
